Students from St Patrick’s Primary School in Blacktown have enjoyed a Thunder Literacy session delivered by WBBL player, Belinda Vakarewa.

The Thunder Literacy program, which aims to promote the importance of reading and education, is run for K-2 students across the Thunder Nation.

Charmain Floody, teacher at St Patrick’s Primary School, believes that education is about enjoyment and development.

“Reading is a critical skill for all students and at St Patrick’s in Blacktown, we take every opportunity to engage our students,” said Floody.

“A strong emphasis is on the enjoyment of reading and what better way to enjoy a reading session than with an Australian cricketer! Quality reading involves a high level of emotion and comprehension, this was achieved in our session with Belinda.”
