Thunder Assist provides ongoing support to cricket clubs, schools and community groups through grants, equipment and general support. The Thunder Foundation, in partnership with HomeWorld, recently distributed grants to cricket clubs across the Thunder Nation.

Sydney Thunder is committed to supporting the development of cricket globally, to ensure the sustainability of participation. In 2017, the Thunder Foundation donated cricket gear, uniform and equipment to communities in; Kenya, Nepal, the Caribbean, Germany, Uganda and Fiji.

Each year Sydney Thunder provides scholarships to two cricket players from regional locations across NSW. Claire Murray and Blake Macdonald were selected as the Thunder Regional Rookies for the WBBL and BBL seasons and will join the team throughout their campaigns.

The Thunder Leadership Program is a 4-week program delivered to high school students and community groups across western Sydney and regional NSW. The program engages and inspires youth to connect with their community and develop their self-confidence and leadership skills.

Our committee would like to personally thank Sydney Thunder for their committed and generous engagement with our Kiss Goodbye to MS Cricket fundraiser. Without tremendous support from organisations like Sydney Thunder, our day would not have been the success it was.

Selected students from Year 9 and 10 at Chifley College Mount Druitt Campus have been involved in this program and have participated in a variety of fun team building activities. Energetic cricket skill sessions and active group discussions on preventing or resolving conflict with peers has kept the program engaging. The hosts have been very welcoming; the program delivery is well structured and the feedback from students has been excellent. All of them leave with a smile on their face and have said they look forward to the next session.

The Sydney Thunder team and foundation have consistently donated first class cricket gear, clothing and merchandise to our students at school Heartland Academy in Kathmandu, Nepal since 2016. This has had a significant positive impact on our student community of over 500, most of whom come from significantly disadvantaged families and communities who have very few possessions but are often big fans of the game and the Sydney Thunder team

The students have demonstrated real social engagement and developed a sense of community as a result of the Thunder Leadership Program. We are very supportive of Sydney Thunder’s ongoing work in the community and their focus on inclusiveness and we look forward to ongoing engagement with Sydney Thunder

In March 2017, the Thunder Foundation donated a large quantity of Sydney Thunder playing uniforms, balls, caps and wrist bands to the Caribbean Children’s Cricket Charity. In providing the Sydney Thunder kit, The Thunder Foundation generously supports the Caribbean Children’s Cricket Charity in reaching out to children in developing Caribbean nations to foster the growth of cricket and preserve its legacy in this under-resourced proud cricketing region of the world.
